Most seabass found in shops and restaurants is farmed Sea Bass. Recreational fisherman can occasionally catch it using small nets around the coast.
Since it is farmed, seabass is available all year round.
It is a delicacy in Greek cuisine. In fact in Greece it is considered lucky to catch one.
The total biomass in 2012 was 32% lower than that of 2009. Besides its numbers having reduced in the past couple of years, seabass is farmed and therefore we believe it should be eaten in moderation due to the environmental implications behind aquaculture.
