Availability

The mullet can be sold in a variety of ways namely: fresh, dried, salted, frozen or smoked; therefore it is available all year round for the consumer.

Facts

Mullet can live up to 16 years in the wild.

Catches in the Mediterranean and in Malta itself are far lower than in the Asian or African regions thus the pressure on the species is low. Provided that you consume fresh adult fish over 30cm long, therefore allowing the species to spawn, there is no immediate cause for alarm. fish for tomorrow recommends the mullet.
